Portland! What's good? My name is Dan Cable and I am stoked on our local music scene—so stoked that I started a weekly podcast to spotlight some of my favorite artists.
I moved to Portland four years ago with the intention to create something. I'm not sure that I knew what that something was, but a little over a year ago I started Dan Cable Presents, a podcast spotlighting the local Portland music scene. It has become an important part of my life, and a fun way to get involved in my new community.
The podcast features live in-studio performances, as well as uncensored conversations with artists about the creative process, tour shenanigans, songwriting, and sometimes we just geek out on life!
Last year, I independently produced more than 40 episodes of the progrum and over 70 videos of in-studio performances from bands across all genres. I hope this will become your weekly dose of local music, and a way to keep you hip to the thriving scene around you.
I am incredibly pumped that 13 of the bands and artists chosen for this year’s all local, all original MOGO Music Festival have appeared on the podcast over this last year! A two-day event taking place across the metro area on March 3 and 4, the festival will feature more than 65 acts at a dozen area venues.
And to introduce you to some of the artists playing this year’s MOGO Fest, I have compiled a playlist of in-studio performances at Mountain Air Studios from the Dan Cable Presents podcast that features the likes of live hip-hop masterminds ADDverse Effects and emcee Mic Capes, the countrified Americana of Pretty Gritty, folksters Santiam, The Jackalope Saints, Laryssa Birdseye and Karyn Ann, psych rockers Cambrian Explosion, the synthpop of GLASYS, the soulful sounds of Whim Grace, and jazzy electronics from Korgy & Bass.
Stay up. Stay tuned. It's a progrum.
