“Jacknife” is a reflection of Ben Braden and Nick Sadler’s love of Nigerian disco/boogie and the EDM that they would dance to at nightclubs around Portland. Recording and producing music solely on iPads, using a ramshackle process involving several apps working in concert, in Airbnbs on the road and apartment studios, the result is a mix of inspired, off-the-cuff tones and well-produced, precise pop. For fans of LCD Soundsystem, St. Vincent and Prince, their second EP Mixtape II is out later this year.
