They say bad luck makes for good stories and Arlo Indigo’s new release is no exception. When Portland via Alaska songwriter Jeremiah Brunnhoelzl set off years ago to produce an album that didn’t feel like a “do-it-yourself” release, he never would’ve thought that he’d lose a loving partner, a whole band and close friends in the process. Produced locally by Gold Casio’s Brock Grenfell, Heartbeef is 10 cathartic movements that celebrate perseverance as much as they explore coping with loss. For fans of The National, Grandaddy, and Death of a Ladies’ Man era Leonard Cohen, Heartbeef is out now.
