Puddles Pity Party and “Weird Al” Yankovic were a fun time for all
ages. Weird Al has been around as early as the ‘70s, has sold over 12
million copies of his records and has produced more than 150 covers
and original songs since then. This crowd had every single age and
personality. I saw grandmas, grandpas, toddlers, teens, moms and
dads—you name it; everyone was there! I don’t think I have ever been
to a concert with such a wide variety of concertgoers. Most bigger
artists never leave the stage, but Al started his act by walking
through the venue's back lot, pieing Puddles in the face, and coming
up to the 100 level to sing right in a lady's face. You wouldn’t see
that at a “normal” concert.
I’m quite sure over 75% of the crowd was not expecting Puddles and his
act. By the time he hit his third song, everyone was thoroughly
enjoying themselves. Even though it was “the last unofficial day of
summer” and very warm, he distracted everyone from the heat while
still firing everyone up for Al. In 2017 Puddles Pity Party was on AGT
and made it to the quarterfinals. Just know I was voting every week
for Puddles; I even named my first car after him when I was 16! Seeing
him live was amazing and fulfilling for my high school self. His crowd
work was hilarious. He brought up a young girl to play air guitar for
a whole song and made a man eat four “Ding Dongs” like pastries in
front of the crowd. The laughs continued all afternoon.
These two are not everyone's cup of tea but I could guarantee you if
you had no idea who these acts were, you would have still enjoyed
every minute.
