Neurosis marked their 30th anniversary with a three-day residency at The Regency Ballroom in San Fransisco. Day one of the celebration on March 4 included support from Sleep and Vhol, the West Coast metal collective featuring vocalist Mike Scheidt (YOB), guitarist John Cobbett (Hammers Of Misfortune, ex-Ludicra), bassist Sigrid Sheie (Hammers Of Misfortune, ex-Amber Asylum) and drummer Aesop Dekker (Agalloch, Worm Ouroboros, ex-Ludicra). All three bands round out different sides of the heavy musical spectrum, and the perfectly dynamic event was an amazing way to start off an epic commemoration of a legendary and influential band.
Spanning their entire catalog, Neurosis’ set list included songs that have not been performed in many years. A special energy permeated the entire evening—it almost felt like a family reunion—and it was a truly amazing way to start a most important celebration!
