AC/DC kicked off the fifth leg of their Rock or Bust World Tour with a relentless 20-song, two-hour set of rock and roll anthems at the Tacoma Dome on Tuesday, February 2—from the opening intro to the absolutely epic performance of "Let There Be Rock," which featured Angus Young playing a 10-minute-plus guitar solo that every kid who has picked up a guitar in the last 40 years has dreamt of playing. To say this show was phenomenal would be an understatement. To say AC/DC are survivors is selling them short. AC/DC are rock and roll at its best, performing each career-spanning song like they were shot out of a cannon. A concert with a few signature props and Marshall amps stacked to the rafters, this arena rock show was all about the music: straight ahead and in your face rock and roll—“For Those About To Rock” indeed! Let there be no doubt, for the 23,000-plus in attendance, AC/DC delivered everything they had and more in Tacoma.
Opening the show, Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown (Tyler Bryant on vocals and guitar, Caleb Crosby on drums, Graham Whitford on guitar, and Noah Denney on bass) showed that they could rock with the best of them. And they've been proving this fact of late by opening for some of the biggest names in music, including a recent Portland appearance with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons. Check out their new EP The Wayside.
