From sustainability efforts that have practically eliminated paper and plastic cups, plates and utensils, to intimate workshops with artists, to sets specifically tailored for your little ones, the vision of the organizers is extensive. Where else can you catch multiple performances for every band on different stages and in different environments over the course of a single weekend? What about saying hi to one of the headliners who just happens to be wandering around the fest grounds? Or how about a sweaty, late-night romp in the Galaxy Barn on the receiving end of a face melting? Free water, camping, solar powered, 80 forested acres to explore, family friendly, views of Mt. Hood, a strictly limited capacity, an intimate stage deep in the woods beneath Doug Firs—all of this makes Pickathon a hot commodity. With the popularity and ticket prices steadily creeping up over the years, the fest not only sells out but also becomes a bit price prohibitive for some families. But if you can swing it, it's so worth every penny.
