Returning to AudioCinema for the second consecutive year, the 12th annual edition of Portland’s premier all-ages, free music festival—which features only PDX-based acts—will once again be a yearly snapshot of our scene’s sights and sounds. With a reputation for offering a diversity of genres back to back, each year the three-day fest features an amazing array of up-and-coming talent—some of which go on to national acclaim while others, who may have sounded equally impressive on that July afternoon, fizzle out and return two years down the line in a different band. That’s the beauty of the regenerative musical process on display at PDX Pop Now! Plus, the band-versus-band basketball tournament, Rigsketball, will return to the concrete concert grounds again in 2015. Best known for this fest and its annual compilation (2015 comp submissions will be accepted from February 1 to March 15), the volunteer-run nonprofit also supports music education in schools and access to live performances for fans of all ages.
