Funklandia at Goodfoot Lounge

We all know that friendly Farnell Newton is one of the funkiest men in town. Between blowing his horn on tour with Jill Scott and Bootsy Collins and being the nucleus of many a local musical circle, he’s now officially rallying the funk scene for a two-day party at Portland’s unofficial home for that delectable dance music. Folks like talk box master Steveland Swatkins, powerhouse vocalists Sarah Clarke and Arietta Ward, guitarist Agyei Marshall, and goofballs The Quick & Easy Boys will feel right at home on the Goodfoot’s subterranean stage, as will legendary drummer Frankie “Kash” Waddy—who you can hear all over records by P-Funk and Bootsy. Saturday’s an all-star tribute to James Brown while Sunday will show you just how funky our own scene is. And you can even get busy a night early at The 1905!
