Mackintosh Braun Remixes The Colourist [Song Premiere]

Vortex Music Magazine

Better late than never, hear Mackintosh Braun sweeten up the already lush dreams of The Colourist’s “Wishing Wells.”

Portland duo Mackintosh Braun have done what they do best to a track from The Colourist’s debut record: Asked to remix “Wishing Wells” from the Orange County band’s self-titled album, the pair have significantly synth’d up the guitar-based original with some signature touches, taking an already danceable indie rock song for dreamers and making it into a little piece of saccharine electropop.

"This is a remix we did for The Colourist late last year. We missed the deadline for their remix EP, but they still loved it and we had a lot of fun doing it,” Ben Braun says.

The Inversions EP Braun references came out in October and featured contributions from St. Lucia, The Chainsmokers, Magic Man, Yeasayer and The Jane Doze offering remixes of hits like "Little Games," “We Won’t Go Home” and more—stream the six-track affair here.

Hopefully this’ll tide you over until Mackintosh Braun drops their new record Arcadia later this year. Until then, watch the lyric video for “Never Give In”—which was also featured as one of our Top 25 Overlooked Songs of 2014.
